Participants and Winners

The Story of a Dot exhibition brings together the finalists of the 2025 edition of The Art Circle Award, showcasing the diverse practices and creative approaches of participating artists. Each work reflects an individual response to the theme, demonstrating the richness of interpretation that a simple point can inspire.

Alongside the finalists, the exhibition highlights the winning entries from previous editions of the award. By presenting these works together, the exhibition not only celebrates this year’s participants but also traces the impact of the initiative over time, offering insight into the artists it has supported and the dialogue it has fostered across the region’s art community.

Bassam Freiha Art Foundation, in collaboration with The Art Circle, is proud to present Story of a Dot, the 5th edition of The Art Circle’s annual art award, accompanied by a group exhibition hosted in the Foundation’s Annex Gallery. This year’s theme takes inspiration from Bauhaus principles and Arab modernism, inviting artists to reflect on the transformative potential of the simplest element: the dot.

Rooted in the Bauhaus fusion of art, craft, and function, Story of a Dot encourages participants to deconstruct and reconstruct form, beginning with geometry’s most essential unit. The exhibition resonates with the legacy of artists such as Etel Adnan, Dia Al-Azzawi, and Saloua Raouda Choucair, who used geometry and abstraction to express rhythm, structure, and cultural identity across modern Arab art.

The presentation brings together all finalist works selected for the 2025 edition, celebrating diverse interpretations of the theme. In addition, the exhibition showcases winning entries from previous years, underscoring the award’s role in fostering artistic talent and highlighting the impact of this ongoing initiative.

Through Story of a Dot, visitors are invited to reflect on how a single point can generate rhythm, spark imagination, and unfold into limitless creative possibilities.
