John Clement

John Clement is an American sculptor celebrated for his curvilinear steel works that transform coils and arcs into dynamic explorations of movement, space, and form. Trained under renowned artists Marc di Suvero and John Henry, he carries forward Constructivist traditions with a contemporary sensibility, creating both monumental outdoor sculptures and smaller works that feel poised for motion. Clement has exhibited extensively and completed numerous public commissions across the United States and internationally, establishing himself as a distinctive voice in contemporary sculpture

The organic forms of John Clement engage in a compelling dialogue with the foundation’s modernist architecture — an embodiment of minimalist elegance and strength.

Clement’s sculptures, dynamic in form and striking in colour, are set to contrast with the calm, reflective tranquility of the pools surrounding the building. Their spiralled shapes and vivid presence echo the movement and vibrancy of life around the foundation’s glass facade. Clement considers his work a constant exploration of form and space, a theme that resonates with BFAF’s architectural vision.

In this setting, visitors are invited to reflect on the connection between man-made and nature, an experience that mirrors the Foundation’s dedication to fostering a dialogue between culture and environment.
