Introduction to Abstract Art with Émilie Dubois
Description
Join artist Émilie Dubois, currently exhibiting Home Is Not a Place in the Annex Gallery, for an engaging introduction to abstract art.
In this hands-on workshop, participants will explore how colour, gesture, texture, and composition can communicate emotion beyond representation. Through guided exercises using acrylic and mixed media, Émilie will introduce key principles of abstraction while encouraging experimentation and intuitive mark-making.
Focusing on process rather than perfection, the session invites participants to move beyond “what it looks like” and instead consider how painting can express memory, atmosphere, and inner experience. With personalized guidance throughout, each participant will begin to develop their own visual language and a deeper understanding of abstract practice.
Suitable for beginners and those looking to expand their creative approach, this workshop offers a supportive space for exploration and artistic discovery.
