Join us for a lecture by Dr. Michaela Watrelot. In this session, we introduce the concept of Orientalism, a critical framework for understanding how 19th-century Western depictions of Eastern cultures have shaped perceptions and narratives. We’ll explore this through both the paintings and photography, as well as through the seminal literary critiques by Edward Said. This examination will highlight the intersection of art, history, and post-colonial theory.
