Bassam Freiha Art Foundation hosted a hands-on calligraphy workshop designed for beginners and anyone curious about the art of writing. Through simple, guided steps, participants explored foundational calligraphic strokes and techniques, gaining an accessible introduction to form, rhythm, and flow.
The session offered a welcoming environment for creative expression, allowing attendees to produce a small calligraphic piece to take home. The workshop forms part of the Foundation’s ongoing educational programming, aimed at fostering creativity, cultural appreciation, and community engagement.

Sumaira Ashik
Sumaira Mohammed Ashik is a Dubai-based licensed calligraphy artist and abstract painter known for her distinctive fusion of Arabic calligraphy and metallic textured abstraction. Originally trained as an electronics engineer, she transitioned into a full-time artistic practice after discovering her passion for calligraphy seven years ago.
Her work spans large-scale Islamic abstract paintings, live performances, and collaborations with luxury brands and high-profile events across the GCC. An experienced instructor, she has taught over 300 students, with her work featured in galleries, residences, and prestigious regional events.
