The Listening Majlis by Amin Fari

Bassam Freiha Art Foundation invites you to the second edition of The Listening Majlis, a unique sound experience led by multidisciplinary artist Amin Fari.

 

Drawing inspiration from the intimacy of the Japanese kissaten, where listening to music becomes a quiet, intentional act, and the communal spirit of the Arab majlis, a space rooted in gathering and exchange, The Listening Majlis creates a setting where sound, presence, and dialogue come together. This experience invites audiences to slow down and engage with music not as background noise, but as a shared moment of attention and reflection.

 

Through a carefully curated selection of vinyl records, Amin Fari shapes an immersive sonic environment where each track is chosen with intention, allowing the audience to move through different moods, textures, and narratives. The analogue quality of vinyl adds depth and warmth, reinforcing the tactile and sensory nature of the experience.

 

Set within the Foundation, the space becomes a contemporary majlis, one that encourages both quiet listening and organic conversation.
