About the Artists

Mineral Garden features Brazilian artist Ana Elisa Murta and Emirati artist Azza Al Qubaisi, who both transform natural and repurposed materials into powerful artistic statements. Murta is known for her innovative use of mining by-products, fusing earthy Brazilian minerals with golden tones inspired by the UAE desert to capture the transformative force of nature. Al Qubaisi, celebrated as the UAE’s first jewelry artist, incorporates palm fronds, metals, and other locally significant materials to honour Emirati heritage while pushing the boundaries of contemporary art. Together, they highlight the deep connections between culture, environment, and artistic innovation.

Presented in partnership with the Embassy of the Federative Republic of Brazil to commemorate 50 years of diplomatic relations between Brazil and the UAE, Mineral Garden explores how shared practices can foster cultural dialogue and environmental awareness. On view at the Annex Gallery from December 19, the exhibition unites Murta’s and Al Qubaisi’s unique approaches to sustainability and craftsmanship, celebrating the transformative power of art to bridge traditions and inspire collaboration across nations.
